Brenda and Lane Rees hosted their fifth annual countdown to Walton County's 200th birthday Dec. 29 at their home at Eastern Lake. The county's 200th birthday will be Dec. 29, 2024. Brenda gave her traditional reading of Edgar Alan Poe's poem to Octavia Walton followed by a sunset toast and responded to some questions from the crowd about the county's history.
